    Brighstone is a village situated along  'the back of the Wight' lying on the sunnyside of the chalk downs on the Isle of Wight. It is a very pleasant and quaint village with a lovely pub, tea room and pretty church. Brighstone is known for its smuggling history, where mostly Brandy would be brought across from the channel and then hidden in large tubs under cottage floorboards so that the revenue men would'nt find it. The entire parsh lies with a designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and its coastline is also labelled as a heritage coast and site of Special Scientific interest.
