Zakopane is a popular tourist resort surrounded by the Tatra mountains. It's a year round destination; walkers and hikers head for the multitude of trails through the Tatrzanski National Park, skiiers arrive in droves in the winter for skiing, snowboarding and to enjoy the colourful Highland or Gorale culture. Take horse and cart tours around Zakopane, eat a few pierogi, warm chilled hands in the winter on a cup of mulled wine or honey vodka.
