WHINNIE HOUSE (England, Derbyshire, Matlock) http://www.countrycottagesonline.net/project/site/Cottage_details.php?Cottageid=899 Originally one of Matlock's famous Hydro Hotels (hotel's that provided hydropathic treatments using the famous spring waters that surround Matlock and Matlock Bath), the hotel was divided to create four individual apartments, Whinnie House being one of them. There are still many original features remaining to give you an insight into the origins of the building.

Imagine drinking your morning coffee, or perhaps eating your favourite evening meal, whilst enjoying open views of the countryside. Well you can here, either in the conservatory or outside, on the private terrace. The conservatory is light and bright, cosy yet comfortable, and the outdoor terrace is south facing, and a perfect place for enjoying those glorious summer days.

A fully equipped KITCHEN is open to the homely, yet elegant, SITTING ROOM. The main feature of this delightful room is the Derbyshire Stone Fireplace (not in use). There are two large cosy sofas that are absolutely perfect for curling up in and watching T.V. A sky box is available, providing some Sky channels and radio stations, (Note: For your favourite Sky channels please bring your own Sky viewing card) and there is also a DVD player. A large, south facing, bay window, floods this room with light, and takes full advantage of the room's glorious aspect.

THE MAIN BEDROOM is cosy, yet spacious, inviting and romantic. The bedroom includes a double wardrobe, a dressing table, and an occasional chair. There is a small 'off room', which provides plenty of storage for large bags or suitcases etc. THE SECOND BEDROOM is warm and inviting and includes two twin beds.

THE BATHROOM is beautifully decorated in a real 'country style', and includes the original Victorian sink, found during renovation. The bathroom also has a panelled bath, and an overhead shower.

All in all Whinnie House provides the perfect place for people wishing to take a romantic break, or it makes the perfect base, in an ideal location, for people requiring a 'beautiful place to stay', whilst discovering the Derbyshire Dales, and the stunning Peak District.

The farm has both arable and livestock enterprises and supports various conservation and environmental stewardship schemes. The cottages are located at the end of a no-through road, thus creating a safe and quiet environment for our guests. The lake holds brown trout and our guests are welcome to fly fish by arrangement with the estate manager. We have five miles of wooded and lakeside walks and trails for our guests to explore the farm and our diverse wildlife.

North Northumberland is abundantly supplied with places of interest. Dotted along the heritage coastline are the historic border castles of Warkworth, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Lindisfarne found on Holy Island. In land there are many more castle such as Alnwick (Home to Harry Potter), Norham and Chillingham, also accessible are the great houses of Cragside and Wallington which are open to the public all year round, also the recently built Alnwick Gardens which are flourishing as it enters its final phases.

Granary Cottage is a ground floor barn conversion set in an attractive courtyard by a pretty and tranquil village green. This very well presented holiday property has two bedrooms (sleeping 4 guests + cot).

There is doorstep walking and many beautiful beaches nearby Granary Cottage - ideal for surfing ,bodyboarding, swimming and exploring.

The cottage is situated in the quiet hamlet of Rosecare. Crackington Haven Beach is just a short drive (or a longer walk) from Granary Cottage and is a beautiful cove, flanked by impressive cliffs. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the summer months. The large stretch of sand and pebble is bordered by low reefs with lots of rock pools to explore. (Dogs are not allowed on this beach between Easter and end of September.)

The seaside town of Bude, with 2 large sandy beaches, patrolled by life guards in the summer, and a sea filled swimming pool is a short drive away . Summerleaze beach at Bude is dog friendly all year. Bude has cycle hire, a surf school, ten pin bowling and a Tourist Information Office, plus a comprehensive range of shops and restaurants. A short drive will take you to the shops and attractions of Launceston, Camelford and the pretty coastal villages of Tintagel, Boscastle and Port Isaac . The Eden Project is just over one hour's drive away. Horseriding and many children's and family activities are available locally. Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor are close by. St Gennys is a picturesque little village set 400 feet up on the cliffside just above Crackington Haven. It clings to the hillside & looks out to the impressive headland which drops sheer to the sea. Visit the 15th century Church in St Gennys & enjoy one of the finest views in North Cornwall to Bude Bay & Bristol Channel to where Lundy Island can be seen on a clear day.
