Self catering holidays in Denbighshire

Denbighshire is a predominantly rural county in north east Wales with many places for country walks. There are areas of outstanding natural beauty, wooded country parks and moorland in the Clywydian Mountains.  Cyclists may like to know that there are safe traffic free cycle trails in Llyn Brenig around the reservoir. The north coast of Wales is a short drive away for trips to the seaside resorts of Prestatyn and Rhyl. The Offa's Dyke long-distance footpath begins at Prestatyn and runs south through Denbighshire. Denbighshire is a good base for an outdoor activity self-catering holiday with the added option of trips to the coast and Snowdonia.

 There are a number of Denbighshire  towns that are worth visiting. Denbigh is overlooked by castle ruins set high on the hill. It is still possible to sense the atmosphere of battles long ago  with the Anglo Normans. A climb to the top rewards walkers with a panoramic view of the Clywd Valley. Ruthin is a historic town with a town square surrounded by period buildings. Ruthin Castle is now a hotel but there are other interesting places to visit such as the old courthouse, a museum and the weekly market which is held on Fridays and sells cakes, home made items, plants, second hand goods and knick knacks.
