There are also some wonderful stately homes to visit in this part of England, including Hatfield House with its links to Anne Boleyn, Knebworth House and Woburn Abbey. For dining out, the town of Harpenden is an appealing place, as is the nearby historic town of St Albans and the market town of Berkhamsted with its ruined castle and canalside walks is well worth a visit too
