Self-catering country cottages, houses and apartments in Walberton, West SussexWalberton is a small village roughly 2.5 miles west of Arundel and approximately 5 miles north west of Littlehampton. The village has a pub, The Holly tree, recorded from 1845 and called by its present name since 1867. The village church, St Mary's, has a Saxon font and west wall. At one end of the village there is a small village pond popular with families out to feed the ducks. There are a small number of shops and a post office for your self catering essentials next to the modern village hall. Walberton is an excellent base for a self catering cottage holiday touring the area and is particularly well placed for day trips to Arundel with its palatial castle and is also within easy reach of the West Sussex coast and the South Downs. From the coast to the countryside, seaside resorts to historic towns and picture-perfect villages, Sussex is chock-full of things to do, days out and places to see. Along the coast where the South Downs meet the sea, the high chalk cliffs dominate. The Seven Sisters run west from Beachy Head, the highest sea cliff in Britain at 530 feet, to Brighton well known for its Royal Pavilion with its domes and minarets. Further west along the coast Bognor Regis has been a center for seaside relaxation for over 200 years. Over half of the county is protected countryside, offering walking on the South Downs, through bluebell woods and ancient royal forests, or be inspired by the glorious gardens of the Sussex Weald. Look out for birds and other wildlife in the nature reserves and country parks dotting the county.
