Benfleet lies close to the Essex coast and Canvey Island. It's a short drive to Southend-on-Sea or Thurrock for shopping at Lakeside. It has a railway station with a frequent service into London. Although mainly residential with some shops, the Hadleigh Castle Country Park begins across from the station and extends over to Leigh-on-Sea, taking in some beautiful countryside with plentiful wildlife. It's one of the largest country parks in Essex, and walkers, cyclists and horse riders are all welcome.

From Benfleet, it's easy to get to London on the A13, or Chelmsford on the A130 - a convenient base from which to explore Essex.
