Hitchin is a historic Hertfordshire market town with markets on Tuesdays on Saturdays. An Antique Market is held on Fridays. In the 17th century, Hitchin had a Staging Post for horse-drawn stages travelling to and from London. King Henry VIII is known to have hunted in the countryside around Hitchin.
