Self catering holidays in Salisbury - Wiltshire

Salisbury is a beautiful cathedral city in Wiltshire, England and is also the only city in the county of Wiltshire.  Salisbury has a quintessentially English feel with its olde worldey buildings and greens.  Salisbury is a simply charming place in which to enjoy a self-catering cottage break.  

Some of the buildings here date back as far as the 13th century and are very interesting.  There are many tudor style buildings and one particularly appealing house with a sun dial set on the side of it.  Salisbury Cathedral with its high spire continues to impress and draw the crowds.  There is also Mompesson historical house near the Cathedral which is cared for by the National Trust.  The South Wiltshire Museum is another point of interest and situated in one of Salisbury’s fine Grade I listed buildings.

Salisbury’s location near the edge of Salisbury Plain along with its five surrounding rivers provides it with a pleasing setting for a cottage break.  Salisbury is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and of course the atmospheric stone circle of Stonehenge, cared for by English Heritage is just an easy car ride away.
