Self catering holidays in Zakopane - Malopolskie

Zakopane is a ski resort at the foot of the Tatra Mountains in the south of Poland, near the border with Slovakia. The Tatrzanski National Park straddles both countries offering great skiing, hiking, mountain climbing and recreation in a forested mountain terrain.

The town is geared for tourism with a high street lined with restaurants, clubs, coffee shops, ski wear and gift shops. Always, bustling, always interesting.

The style of the mainly wooden buildings decorated with carvings and deeply slanted roofs help create that alpine holiday feeling. This is definitely the land of the bobble hat and cosy anorak or ski jacket.

Your nose will lead the way to the hot grilled sausage with fried onions stands or restaurants specialising in grilled meats. Heated mulled wine served in cups is another local speciality to warm visitors on a cold snowy day.

Evening entertainment can be lively with plenty of gaiety, music, song and colourful national costumes.

The skiing is cheap, uncrowded and there is a wide choice of slopes to suit all abilities from beginners to advanced.
