Saffron Walden is steepd in history; a short walk around the town will reveal numerous listed and ancient buildings, the remains of an Iron Age fort to the west of the town, and a Gothic church, plus many other buildings of interest. Jacobean-style Audley End House with gardens designed by Capability Brown are a short drive to the west of Saffron Walden. It's surrounded by glorious Essex countryside and charming villages, located close to the M11, about half way between Bishop's Stortford (and Stansted Airport) to the south, and Cambridge to the north.
