Self catering holidays in Thrace and the Sea of Marmara

This area is well visited for holidays as it includes the fascinating city of Istanbul.  Istanbul is a city with a strong middle eastern vibe and is heavy with scents and the soulful call of the mosque.  Those who love to shop should adore the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul with its windy lanes and assortment of quality goods.  Take a boat trip on the Bosphorous to fully appreciate the beauty of Istanbul and the area just outside.

If you drive through or explore this region you will notice that the countryside is rich in crops.  Sunflowers grow in abundance.  Sunflower seeds are particularly popular in Turkey and can be bought throughout the country.  Cotton can also be seen growing in the fields.

Thrace

Thrace in Turkey includes the Gallipoli area which is particularly beautiful and many people are interested in visiting this part of Turkey due to the battlefields here dating back to the famous battle of Gallipoli.  Also nearby is the fascinating historical site of Troy.  The main town for accommodation, well located for visiting Troy is Cannakale.  Take note though it is a ferry ride from Cannakale to Gallipoli and vice versa.

Separating the European part of Turkey which includes Istanbul and the Gallipoli peninsula from the Asian side of Turkey is the Sea of Marmara.  The scenery around this area is particularly beautiful although not a typical self catering holiday destination.   

So sorry there is a sad lack of availability in Thrace and the Sea of Marmara at present.
