Self catering holidays in Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire is one of several counties in England with a flat landscape. The lowest place in the UK is at Holme Fen and parts of Cambridgeshire could be threatened should there be floods in England.

The university of Cambridge is a hotspot for tourism. the city is dominated by the various historic colleges, the students and their bicycles.  The River Cam flows through the centre of the city, many of the punts are steered by students working part-time.  Small villages are dotted about the countryside. Ely is one town people visit for the historic cathedral. Look out for the green man inside the cathedral. Apparently most cathedrals have one. The county is largely rural and pleasantly green.

Other notable towns are Huntingdon which is associated with legends of King John and Robin Hood, Peterborough which is a new town surrounded by modern housing estates, St Ives (which has a counterpart in Cornwall), Chatteris, St Neots, Wisbech and March on the River Nene.

The Duxford Air Show in Cambridgeshire is a popular event with boys of all ages. Also visit the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
