Self catering holidays in Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic off the coast of north west Africa.  Formed by volcanic activity, the last eruptions were about 5,000 years ago and the meantime nature has created a rocky holiday island known for having a permanent spring because the temperatures are 15 -22 degrees all year round. This sub-tropical climate with palm trees, orange and lemon trees and splashes of bougainvillea is a wonderful place for family holidays and winter escapes.

The beaches are filled with sunbathers, even in January when much of the northern hemisphere is under a blanket of snow.  Walk along the sea front, hire a sailing boat from the local harbour to spot whales,  dolphins and giant turtles that inhabit the warm seas. There is water skiing,
banana boats and all the fun associated with a beach holiday as well as peaceful and relaxing locations where little happens.
