Self catering holidays in Bideford - Devon

Come and enjoy a stay in Bideford in North Devon, England. Bideford is conveniently placed for self catering holidays on the north Devon coast in what is known as the West Country.  This former port town is located on the estuary of the River Torridge. The town of Bideford is of a reasonable size and spread over a wide area that the river flows through. A lot of visitors come here to enjoy self-catering holidays in cottages, apartments and log cabins.  Located close to the coast, a self-catering holiday in Bideford offers plenty of opportunity to explore the nearby coastline and countryside.

Visit Ilfracombe further north along the coast or head south to the popular seaside town of Bude.  Inland, Exmoor National Park is only around 15 miles away whereas Dartmoor National Park is around 20 miles away.

Some of the historical attractions of this town include the Bideford Long Bridge, which spans over the River Torridge. The bridge has 24 spans in which all the spans are entirely different from each other. In earlier times, the bridge used to be made up of oak similar to its masonry successor. The Bridge Land Street present here is an ancient street with Merchant’s Houses that dates back to the 17th centuries. It is during the same time period that Bideford was considered to be one of the busiest ports in England because of lucrative trade options in terms of tobacco and cotton. The visitors who come here to enjoy their holidays prefer to stay in self-catering accommodation options like villas, log cabins and holiday chalets to make their stay more comfortable.
