Self catering holidays in Salcombe - Devon

Salcombe never, ever fails to lift your spirit.  If you have not been there before then you will certainly want to go back again, and again - and again.  As you round the corner and dip down the hill the estuary curls and twinkles -before you, surrounded by the delightful mix of cottages, boats - and special shops that will have you hooked.  On all sides the coastal greenery stretches before you.  If you want to sample the delights on foot, head for North Sands, park the car then amble into Salcombe along the lane.  A longer walk is from Sharpitor just above South Sands (though you can cheat by catching the little boat from the beach there.  The rest of the party need not know, just arrange to meet them at Whitesands Quay, nip into the hip hotel on the beach for a special snack whilst watching the action on the beach, then pop onto the boat arriving just ahead of them in Salcombe!

Salcombe is really one main street along the seafront, with little lanes off, and there are so many pleasant diversions.  If you hop on the ferry boat to East Portlemouth you can sit and gaze at the wonderful panorama of Salcombe from the opposite side whilst sipping a coffee.  Feeling a little adventurous?  Set off from Mill Bay across the fields to the Gara Rock hotel, returning via the coastal footpath - amazing views.

Whatever you do, don't miss Salcombe.  You will be awestruck.
