Downderry is on the southern Cornish coast, about six miles before reaching Looe and Polperro. It is a small village that rises up the hill. The narrow roads are lined with white-washed coastal cottages, many of which are holiday homes, surrounded by semi-tropical palms and lush shrubbery. It has that sub-tropical seaside appearance that is typical of this part of the southwest English coast. There are a couple of pubs.
A holiday in this part of Cornwall can be as lazy as you like it with paddling and games on the beach, or you could venture out each day to enjoy the various visitor attractions. The small Cornish villages are always a delight as are the picturesque harbours. Cornish ice cream is very good, the fish and chips are fresh and tasty on the coast, there are Cornish pasties to try, cream teas and all that natural beauty to admire.
