Many rods heading north looking for fishing in Scotland pass by Dumfries and Galloway without a second glance. This is to be regretted as the area contains some fine spate rivers. Dumfriesshire is geographically blessed with everything, from a rugged coastline to miles of sandy beaches, acre upon acre of forestry with wildlife in abundance and if that wasn't enough a wealth of salmon rivers and trout lochs. A fishermans dream.

Rivers of particular note in the area are the Annan, Border Esk, Bladnoch, Cairn and Nith all of which offer both Salmon and Trout fishing. There are also many Lochs in the area offering rainbow & brown trout, pike perch and arctic char.
