    Donegal self-catering

Donegal is blessed with stunning countryside, spectacular sea views and rugged mountains. The Glenveagh National Park has been created to preserve the natural splendour of the lake and forest landscape and the home of a herd of red deer. In the park there is a private, but picturesque, castle overlooking the lake and a visitor centre.

The Donegal coast is wonderful with seven Blue Flag beaches ideal for swimming, surfing and sea angling. The coastline then rises up into dramatic sea cliffs, amongst the tallest in Europe. The Slieve League cliffs are the best known and offer spectacularly vertiginous views high above the fury of the Atlantic Ocean.   Just off the coast is Tory Island. Its remote location has preserved a strong Gaelic identity and folk culture. Come to enjoy the unspoilt scenery, time-honoured Celtic crafts and traditional Irish music.

The town of Bundoran on the Donegal coast is a lively seaside resort with plenty of activities for all the family. Children will love Water World, a fun indoor pool complex, whilst adults can relax in the spa at the Bundoran Seaweed Baths. The town also has a fun fair and an outdoor adventure centre offering surfing, climbing, kayaking and abseiling amongst other sports.

No trip to Donegal is complete without visiting the magnificent Donegal Castle. The castle, built in the 15th century has now been restored and furnished with antiques. It is open to the public and there are guided tours.
