Metheringham goes back a long way

Situated in the North Kesteven district, Metheringham is not your normal everyday old Lincolnshire village. Virtually obliterated by a raging fire late in the 16th century, it is now mainly known for being the home of Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, its many interesting wartime exhibits and galleries and for the building of 106 Squadron which played a huge role in the Battle of Britain.

Metheringham is renowned for its agriculture and farming industries and this is apparent every October in the Metheringham Fayre & Feast, which brings its residents all together in a huge community celebration and traditionally marks the end of harvest. Another place you can see this unrivalled togetherness is at St Wilfrid’s Anglican parish church which has been its usual dominating self in the village for more than 400 years.
