About this Kilmartin Cottage for 6

Sleeps 6 cottage close to Lochgilphead in scenic Argyll and Bute.

This detached holiday cottage is just a stone’s throw from the delightful harbour village of Tayvallich, which lies on the picturesque shores of Loch a’Bhealaich in western Scotland. The property has a total of three bedrooms, along with two bathrooms, and has enough room for a total of six people to stay at any one time. It’s decidedly quaint and cosy throughout, yet it still offers plenty of space for relaxing. It’s very much a home-away-from-home as it has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay, not to mention some very picturesque views of the surrounding area. When the weather’s good, throw open the dining room’s patio doors and spend some time out on the patio soaking up the sun and taking in the views. One of the most appealing aspects of the property is the fact that it’s very peaceful and quiet since it’s set in a development a short walk from the main village.

Be sure to have a leisurely stroll down to Tayvallich and see everything the village has to offer. You can go sailing or kayaking and explore Loch a’Bhealaich, which is a sheltered bay, or the nearby much larger Loch Sween. One thing to look out for while on the loch is the ruins of Castle Sween, which dates back to the 12th century and is believed to be the oldest stone castle in Scotland. The peninsula the village sits on is quite thin - just a 10 minute walk takes you to the other side and here you’ll find an attractive beach and an abundance of rugged coastal scenery to explore. South of the village is the Taynish Peninsula, which has been designated a nature reserve and is home to one of Britain’s largest surviving ancient oak forests.
