If you’re looking to stay somewhere in the Cairngorms with a large family or group of friends, Alvey House is one to consider. It’s a particularly spacious property that has a total of nine bed-rooms, eight of which are en-suite, and a ground floor bathroom. Altogether, 19 people can be ac-commodated here at any one time and the dining room table has enough seats for everyone! The property, which is tastefully decorated and presented throughout, also has a charming sun room where guests can relax and admire scenic views, a living room with an open fire and a well equipped kitchen complete with breakfast bar. As for outside the property, there’s roughly a full acre of gardens, with the rear garden fully enclosed. There’s plenty of space for off-road parking and a maximum of two well behaved dogs are allowed to stay here. Conveniently enough, there’s a shop and pub just a short walk away.

The property is located in the charming village of Newtonmore, which has quite a few picturesque walking and cycling trails to follow - it’s popular for pony trekking as well. While exploring the village and its immediate surroundings is a must, you should also make sure to explore the Cairn-gorms National Park while staying at Alvey House. The mountainous park is noted for its breathtaking natural beauty and its rugged landscapes. It’s home to five of Scotland’s six highest mountains and is popular for all sorts of outdoor activities, from hiking, birdwatching and mountaineering, to skiing, fly fishing and gliding. The climate can be quite extreme, which is why the park is among the most sparsely populated of all the UK’s national parks.
