Two Caribbean islands that form one glorious country, Antigua and Barbuda is a holiday paradise for those looking for soft sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.

Hints and Tips on Holidays in Antigua and Barbuda

  • The best beaches in Antigua are generally said to be on the West Coast of the island, by the Caribbean sea. Soft sands and unspoilt beaches await on this part of the island, with Turners Beach and Darkwood Beach being home to some of the most beautiful turquoise waters. With generally calm seas around this side of Antigua, snorkelling can be enjoyed from the shore from quieter beaches such as Darkwood Beach.

  • Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua’s English Harbour is one of the country’s most visited tourist attractions and you can see the many sailing and yachting events that take place there.

  • Rendezvous Bay is one of the most attractive beaches and, because it is very remote, it appears untouched.

  • Antigua is a small and currently quite an unspoilt island, which will suit those keen to visit a less developed Caribbean island where relaxing, snorkelling, swimming and diving are the order of the day. Those looking for plenty of cafes and shops may be better off visiting one of the larger Caribbean islands such as Barbados.

  • It's possible to take boat trips from Antigua to Barbuda and to Montserrat but day trips in this part of the Caribbean can be pricey.
