Book a holiday cottage in Steeple Aston and enjoy a stay in beautiful Oxfordshire. Steeple Aston is a village on the edge of the beautiful Cherwell Valley in Oxfordshire, about 7 miles west of Bicester and 10 miles south of Banbury. There are a number of footpaths leading from the village, providing access to beautiful views across the water meadows where the river, the Oxford Canal and the railway come together. The land surrounding the village is mainly agricultural and there is plenty of wildlife to be seen including the occasional muntjac deer or badger in the early evening. Kingfishers can be spotted by the river and canal and a wide variety of birds visit local gardens. The village has one public house, The Red Lion, offering a welcome cosy atmosphere and delicious locally sourced meals if you decide to eat out in the village. There is also a village shop for all of your self-catering needs. Steeple Aston is a great base for touring the local area, giving good access to local attractions including the Folly, also known as the "Eyecatcher". It looks like the ruins of an ancient abbey, but in fact was built in the 18th century for the owners of Rousham House.
