Find a seaside holiday home in England

For many people what makes a cottage holiday extra special is a location close to the sea. Many people feel better when they spend time by the seaside in the fresh air and who knows, you may even be lucky enough to find a holiday home with a sea view.

England has a fabulous coastline that features cliffs such as the white cliffs of Dover, multi-coloured cliffs at Alum in the Isle of White and cliffs that contain fossils as on the Dorset Heritage Coast. If you are very fortunate and do not have young children, you may be able to rent a holiday cottage that stands on top of cliffs and commands panoramic sea views.

Holidaymakers with families tend to flock to the resorts with sandy beaches and fun fairs. There are many of these around the coast: Scarborough in the north east, Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, Clacton-on-Sea and Southend-on-Sea in Essex, Margate and Folkestone in Kent plus a string of others along the south coast.

There are plenty of quiet unspoilt beaches too where people come to sunbathe, walk and relax. Some of these may have pebble or shingle beaches which are not as good for children.  Rows of colourful wooden beach huts back many English beaches; these offer a private shelter with a kettle and somewhere to sit.

Some of the English nature reserves extend to the coast and are wonderful places to walk, spot birds and enjoy wildflowers.

We are lucky in the choice of seaside holiday homes available in England. You might like to stay in a fisherman’s white-washed cottage close to the shore, a modern luxury house built or a house overlooking a harbour.
