It is little known that Essex in South East England is an area with plenty of good walks.  Whether you enjoy walking through pretty villages, by the coast or through the country, there is lots to discover on a self catering walking holiday in Essex.

For attractive marina and lock walks there is Heybridge Basin near Maldon.  There are also good walks in and from the attractive market town of Maldon itself, including an appealing quayside walk.  The countryside in and around Dedham and Coggeshall is particularly picturesque.  Epping Forest is a good area for forest walks and there are also smaller woods in Essex for walking including Danbury woods, not too far from Chelmsford.  There are also a number of nature reserves and fens in Essex which can be good for walking.  There are quayside walks at Burnham on Sea and Leigh on Sea near Southend which can be lovely on bright days where you can watch the boats and the sun glistening in the water.

Wherever you decide to stay in Essex, whether in a self catering log cabin, country house or country cottage we hope you have a great time.  Enjoy browsing through the self catering accommodation for walking holidays in Essex below.
