The village of Keiss lies on the A99 between Wick and John o' Groats. Keiss Harbour House lies on the harbour edge, and is a historic focal point of the village. Five minutesd walk from the house are the village shop, which sells a useful range of household goods and newspapers, and the local pub, the Sinclair Bay Hotel.

There are many walks around the house and the village, including short walks to Old Keiss Castle and Sinclairs Bay, a vast sandy beach, which is some 10 minutes walk from the house. Scotland offers some of the most beautiful pristine beaches in the UK, great birdwatching, seal spotting, sea fishing and coastal walks.
