Widnes is a town located on the northern bank of the River Mersey within the borough of Halton in Cheshire, England.  Widnes is not a typical self-catering holiday destination but you may want to visit Widnes to see the nearby sights or to visit family or friends.  Widnes was historically part of Lancashire and later it became part of Cheshire after the local government reorganisation. Some of the major industries present here include paint, soap, oil and grease works.

Widnes has a relatively short history and therefore there are not many historical sights to visit, however the reclaimed land of Spike Island is a beautiful open recreational ground which has now been cleared of industry. There are old towpaths from the former Sankey canal which provide a delightful stroll through Widnes. If you’re looking for something to do with the family, Widnes is home to the Catalyst Science Discovery centre and it is only across the river to find the Halton Ski centre at Runcorn. To know more about the history of the town and its development, Halton Chemical Industry Museum is a good place to visit.

Most self catering accommodation in Widnes is likely to be in apartments or cottages to rent.  We hope you find the right holiday accommodation for you with a homely atmosphere from which to enjoy the sights and attractions of this town.
