Cossington Park Cottage Access Statement
Park Cottage is part of Cossington Park and is let either as a separate holiday cottage or with Park House as part of the greater Cossington Park.
Park Cottage is a private home, which is available for self-catering short stays. The house is on two floors. Two of the bedrooms are on the first floor and one is on the ground floor. There is no lift.

Bookings/enquiries can be made via email, fax, telephone or online. We can arrange for shopping to be delivered prior to your arrival. Arrival and Car Parking
The nearest train station is Bridgwater which is 4.7 miles away. Taxis are available at the station; telephone numbers are on our website and at the end of this statement. The nearest bus stop is right outside the entrance to Cossington Park. It is on the left as you approach Cossington Park entrance gate, 18 metres from the front door. There is a covered bus shelter with seats. Bus number 375 (operated by the First Bus Company) stops here and goes to Wells and Bridgwater. The bus timetable is displayed on the wall in the bus shelter and in our Guest Information File, or can be obtained by calling Traveline on 0871 200 2233 or visiting www.traveline.org.uk.
There is private, off-street car parking at Cossington Park. This is accessed through the first set of double gates in front of the garages adjacent to the cottage. The gates can be left open for your arrival on request. Park in front of the left hand garage and a few metres from the side door to the cottage, which is the most accessible as it has a wheelchair ramp allowing easy access for both wheelchairs and buggies.
The key-safe is to the right of the side door of the cottage on the facing wall.
The door is 34.65 inches wide or 880 mm wide.
The ground floor of the cottage is all on the same level and has a wooden floor through out. Lighting is by LED strips and the wall colourings are white or natural.
There is a double or twin room on the ground floor, an accessible wet-room, open plan kitchen, diner and sitting room opening onto a decked terrace.
The passage between the wet-room and the ground floor bedroom is 32.08 inches or 815 mm wide and the bedroom door way is 31.5 inches or 800 mm wide.
In the dining room the clear height under the table is 24.4 inches or 620 mm. The chairs are upright without arms. The wooden floor is even and the room well lit with LEDs and uplighters.
The kitchen is open plan and the oven door and hob 30 inches or 760 mm high and the microwave door is 58 inches or 1470 mm high. It is possible for this to be temporarily placed on the work surface, which is 37 inches or 940 mm high.
The highest drawer in the fridge is 14.96 inches or 380 mm high and the lowest is 5.8 inches or 147 mm high.
The sink has a single mixer lever tap and the kettle is cordless with a 360o swivel.
There is a ground floor wet-room across the corridor from the ground floor bedroom.
The wet room doorway is 30.75 inches or 780 mm wide. The shower has no tray, is fully height adjustable and has portable electric controls.
The WC is 16.75 inches or 425 mm from floor to seat. The washbasin is 36.5 inches or 930 mm high with no pedestal and lever taps.
There are grab rails adjacent to the toilet and in the shower. There are two further portable grab rails located under the stairs if required.
There is a dark slate floor with a pale wall.
The ground floor bedroom has a zip and link bed that can be configured as two singles or a double.
The bed is 25 inches or 635 mm high and there is no clear space under the bed. The room has a substantial upright armchair.
To the first floor there are 15 stairs of 7.2 inches or 180 mm in height. Stairs are 32 inches or 810 mm wide.
The bath in the first floor bathroom is 610 mm or 24 inches in height to the lip.
The decked terrace is accessible through folding French windows stretching the full width of the sitting room area. The decking is on the same level as the kitchen with a small lip housing the window runners.
The garden is accessible via a concrete sloped ramp and it has a handrail 39.5 inches or 1 metre high. The ramp is 56.5 inches or 1440 mm wide. At the top of the ramp a gate to the right allows access to the greater the walled garden and the greater estate. Please see the separate Access to Gardens document in the Guest Information File.
The two bedrooms and upstairs bathroom are accessed via a robust cottage staircase with wooden handrails.
For those who are part of a greater party using both properties there is a step free route from the side door of the cottage to back door of Park House via the Park House garden gate, there are two ramps on the route and there are no steps into Park House. Please also see the separate access statement for Park House on the Cossington Park website.
Evacuation of the premises in the case of fire or other emergencies is the responsibility of the leader of the guest party who should familiarise him/herself with the fire provisions displayed in the Kitchen. The house is fitted with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, fire blanket and torches are provided for emergency use.
The house is non-smoking.
Pets and service dogs are welcome if arranged in advance.
There is a convenience store in Woolavington (the next village). Turn right at the triangle in Cossington, follow the main village road all the way round the sharp left bend, past the vets on the right at the end of the village and carry on until you come to a T-junction. Turn right at the T-junction, next left onto the council housing estate (Old Mill Road), second left and you will see the shop in front of you. There is a family bathroom with bath plus on the ground floor there is a wet-room with shower. The pretty walled garden ensures seclusion and privacy and guests at Park Cottage also enjoy shared use of the children’s playground and orchards and fields at Cossington Park.
