Unusual name, unusual self-catering pine lodges. Atlas is one of several timber holiday homes at Blue Sky Lodges in Cawdor, near Inverness. Cawdor, of course, was the setting for Shakespeare's Macbeth and the castle still exists and welcomes tourists.
Atlas, is a rare stunning find in the Highlands. This luxurious four bedroom, three bathroom lodge can sleep up to eight people in truly glamorous and airy accommodation that features mezzanine galleries, vaulted ceilings and enormous picture windows. Outside on the decking is a personal hot tub and barrel-shaped sauna. The bedrooms and bathroom equal any luxury hotel in style and quality. Each bedroom has its own TV.
Downstairs, a cavernous open-plan living area incorporates a glossy modern white kitchen, a breakfast bar and dining area. A 50 in TV offers entertainment and there is a supply of DVDs for evening viewing although guests are welcome to bring their own.
Atlas is one of two 5 star lodges accessed via a private drive and electronic gates. Guests are given a hand held keypad to allow access into this private estate away from prying eyes. Large groups of up to sixteen people may wish to book both properties together and have the entire place to themselves.
The house contains various state of the art systems; an internal sound system is able to carry music to all areas, heating is via an eco-friendly stove automatically fed on wood pellets. Naturally, there is WiFi Broadband, Wii Games machines, an ipod dock and a wine cooler in the kitchen.
This is the perfect self-catering luxury lodge in Scotland for people who demand the best and like to be in a tranquil location. There is plenty of parking for guest's cars and numerous places of interest in this part of the Highlands. Culloden Battlefield is 15 minutes drive away, Inverness 24 minutes. The whole north Scottish coast from Nairn to Macduff and beyond is fascinating to visit. There are golf courses galore, sea fishing, boat trips to spot dolphins, secluded beaches where seals sunbathe and sand dune backed sands to relax and jog. This entire area is rich in wildlife. The number of sea birds is truly amazing.
A forty minute drive to Grantown on Spey takes visitors into Speyside, salmon fishing and the whisky distillery trail where it is polite to sample a dram or two.
